i agree, but this is sometehing some sellers are okay with and others aren't. stjarni's contract had a very long trial period, all the horses my barn sold had two weeks on the new property. but another icelandic i tried to buy (from 2000 miles away, so i couldn't really stay there) the owner didn't want to do any trial at all, no matter what i offered (paid insurance, non-refundable deposit with balance of payment in escrow, no turnout with other horses, blah blah) so i walked away from that one. (totally lovely pony, though...) --vicka
