I would guess that the more arid regions out west are ok, like 
desert, high desert and the more arid mountain areas. I had Dari at 
the coast and he does have a fly allergy, it was good because there 
was a constant wind and the bugs just couldn't stick around. I was 
having a terrible problem with mosquitos in Montana, but I was about 
200 ft. from a large river, so river areas might not be so good, 
Montana was very dry in most of the state, very dry, there were 
hardly any flying bugs at all. Dari is actually allergic to black 
flies, it's actually much better here than it was in S. Cal., maybe 
because all the livestock is more spread out, kept in large pastures.
