I've been surprised at the level of appreciation that Cary - big, slightly macho man that he is - has of horses and their intelligence and understanding of humans. He surprised me recently with the insightful statement, "You know, I think horses generally understand humans a lot better than us humans understand them." I think maybe he's right.
