a man in our area just had a horse put down that no one could find
anything wrong with, not the vet, no one. He just got thinner and
thinner and kept colicking and biting his sides. So the owner felt he
suffered and had him put down. My farrier told me about it the other
day and I asked if it had been checked for ulcers and my farrier said
"I told him to look into that and he said he had discussed it with his
vet and it was too expensive..." that was sad, but actually noble if
you think about it. Its good not to let an animal suffer if you can't
afford what it needs! I believe I would find a way tho... unless it
was like Gallant Boy who has led a long useful life and is basically
at his journeys end.
