Yes! My problems and loss of confidence with Raven and Whisper were from these 2 things. Raven is a scaredy cat, but the perfect trail horse when there is a horse out front. What my trainer calls a "bait horse". You know, the horse the sabre tooth tiger will go for first! So, to stay in the saddle and not worry about Raven's 180* spooks, we never lead. Whisper, on the other hand, tried to bully me and she tried to make the decisions. I had to convince her that I was trustworthy enough to make the decisions for both of us. She listens to me now, but still has bouts where she wants to know if I am sure of my decision. There is one area where she goes head high and slams on the brakes. So that WILL NOT be the trail where I take her on alone. It's about building her confidence in me, so untill we are a secure team, I will ride where she is most comfortable. We can conquer other demons when we are ready as a team.
