>From John: We have talked Terry Givens, a long time SSHBEA Sport Horse competitor, many time WC, and a founder of these competitions, into taking his many-time WC SSH Stallion, High Country Outlaw to a Craig Cameron Extreme Cowboy race. The first bit of good news is they are having one in April at the Equine Affaire in Colombus, Ohio, much closer for Terry to travel. A wonderfull lady, a member of the Gaited Horse list, has just told me she would send the money ( under the condition that she remain anonymous) for Terry and Country to go REPRESENT the gaited horses of this country! This is one woman that wil put her money where her mouth is.
This would be a huge victory for a gaited horse and a victory for all of us that love them. He said that you have to submit an application, the entry fee, and a resume, and a letter telling why you and your horse deserve to be in it. Craig Cameron will review all the applications, and select the ones that will compete. They will be called with the news, and the rest will receive a thank-you letter and their money back. Now, here is where you can help.We need letters and emails to Craig Cameron and to the owners of Horsecity.com. Maybe even phone calls. We need 2000 of them. We need to tell the producers and Craig about how versatile these horses are. We need to ask them to please give Country and Terry a chance. Maybe mention that many people think a gaited horse is just for rail class shows or pleasure riding, that many people do not realize how good they can be at over fence work, cattle work, even timed events. Talk about all the accomplishments of Terry and Country in SSHBEA events. You can see Terry and Country on the SSHBEA home page, near the bottom, below the rail class champions, of course :) at www.sshbea.org and more pics and info here http://www.sshbea.org/sport_horse.htm I think we need to help promote gaited horses at something like this... I have often watched this show and thought any of my horses that have been trail ridden a lot would be great at it! Janice -- yipie tie yie yo
