Hi Sherrel:

I really like that! I will pass that by Lori and see
how she likes it.

Well, it was very much like a rescue to tell you the
truth. We did not have much doubt as to her being
pregnant but had no idea when she was due. She was in
the paddock up near the barn because we figured she
would be the first to foal. Lori had been checking
her udder developement but she is just not experienced
with pregnant mares. Her expertise is in goats and
her herd of Icelandic sheep. She is also a trained
vet tech. She has now entered into a crash course of
mare care. She has (or we have) another mare due to
foal but we are thinking in about a month. We did get
a breeding certificate on her so have a better idea.
She is as big as a house but I felt her udder today
and there is nothing. She also still has a firm feel
to her gluteal muscles and tail head. I am going back
over there tomorrow to give her the annual shots. I
am just hoping she keeps her baby inside for another
month as long as it does not grow too much bigger.
She is a big mare, however.

I was hoping for a span of warmer weather but just
heard that it is supposed to snow about all day
Tuesday. I guess the kids won't have to go to school
either. This young colt is a fiesty one and guess
that is a good thing. I will have to have the
camcorder ready when we do let him out. I believe he
will put on a show. We saw him try to gait in the
stall today. Lori could hardly believe it. I was
glad to see it. Well, thanks for your input. You may
have just named our baby.
