it is very touching, and a great risk for the women. I have been in
two situations where a huge number of horses came flying up on us
through water and the first time Jaspar pitched a little hissy fit and
if it had been any other horse I believe he would have launched me.
but something about the splashing and thundering hooves just makes a
horse crazy i think. It takes a good horse to not panic and go with
them. or like the last time, jaspar froze in the middle of the creek
while horses just came in on us from every direction, falling,
crashing into us, lunging around panicked, jaspar just cringed and
wouldnt move til I realized we could be hurt so i started kicking and
yelling and he very wisely chose to go downstream a little before
heading for the opposite bank. Horses in a huge moving herd like that
triggers instincts that are surprising.
