Oh, you're absolutely right - now.  But I remember back when we first got
horses and you could get an expensive German dressage saddle for $1200,
where they are more like $2000-4000 now.  I found my Courbette dressage
saddle, barely broken in, on consignment for something like $325, and I
think it was about $1200 new, sometime around 1990.   That was one of their
German-made saddles too, not one of the cheaper ones they sell now.  I'm
pretty sure that Crosby's and Stubben's were in the same range back then.
But, that was then, and this is now... And besides, I finally sold that
Courbette when I decided there isn't a prayer I'll find an Icelandic that it
fits, so it's a moot point anyway.
