>>> Do you use anything to close the gap in your leathers when using hard
use (i.e., leather covers, sheepskins, etc.)?

You know, my first impression was that the gap the hard-use option makes
might be dangerous, but after I think about it, is it really? I'm not sure.
Won't the stirrup leathers be pressed right next to your legs? Is it THAT
likely that something would get caught there? I'm sure there's a way -
there always is.

To show how paranoid I can be, I ordered my last EZ-rides with tapaderos,
not just the cages I'd been using. I was surprised that the tapaderos have
a big gap on the lower side of the front of the stirrup. I thought they'd
be the ultimate safety stirrups, but I betcha someone, somewhere, can and
will have an accident with even them. I guess it just depends on how far
we're willing to take the safety fears - if I thought about it TOO much, I'd
probably never get back on a horse! I'm not going there! :)

I have some stirrup leathers long enough finally to rig Cary's Sensation up
with the hard use option. I'll try to do that soon and take pictures. I'd
think if it is going to be a hazard with anyone, it would be with his.
After all, his legs extend further below the flaps of the saddle than most
people's do.
