she said I should do it first this way! She said if the horse gets
tangled then I can just drop the lines, and i can get used to walking
along to the side and having one rein almost like a lunge... but I
have a surcingle! I already did it tho :) With Nasi, horrible, gave
up after I realized there was just no way, it was a war of him pulling
me with the sidepull and I just felt like it wasnt a positive
experience so I took him for a walk instead. I did it with Jaspar who
kept wanting to eat bushes and pretending he didnt know what I wanted
when I flapped the reins for him to go, but finally he went , dah dunt
da dunt, sauntering along. It was more trouble to make him go than
stop or turn. Fox got tangled in the lines over and over so I spent
most of the time just running along after him as he drug the reins
across the yard. I did it to Tivar, who acted like he could not
understand why I wanted him to hold his nose straight up like he was
looking at the clouds and then would get pissy and actually put his
nose on the ground and walk trying to manhandle the reins... then I
did it with stonewall and he actually was the best. My worst horse
was the best... I dont think I am doing it right! I think I will get
a video :) And try the surcingle. Should I do the sidepull on them
first with the surcingle?? It is fun tho! and no one got hurt or
seriously traumatized, I wasnt kicked at or run away from. They all
acted like hey, it was better than being bored :) I enjoyed it :)
