Storme, that makes no sense - for now, anyway, you've got it backwards.
It's not the babies who are the problem.  They are fine since they are
exposed to the cullicoides and develop immunities.  It's not the breeding
that's the problem.  It's the importing of adult horses.  The only real way
to avoid SE ALMOST totally, so far, is to have horses born in a similar
climate.  That at least puts the SE rate at the same level as for any other
horses born in the same area.  Maybe this vaccine will work out - hopefully
it will.
