I know I'm not the only 50+ year old on the list, so I'm here to nag a little. Have you had a bone density test done? I had my first one five years ago after I broke my back, and I got a diagnosis of osteoporosis. I had no idea. I'm a prime candidate: a small-boned white woman, who's never been able to tolerate a lot of dairy products. At least I never smoked, and I only drink minimally. The orthopedist told me that breaking my back might actually have been a good thing - I probably would not have gotten a bone density test, and I wouldn't have upped my intake of Calcium, nor started taking Fossamax. Osteoporosis is typically present for a while before the problem becomes noticeable. It's much easier to reverse if it's not too advanced when it's found. Those of us who ride horses need strong bones!
I had my test done this morning. It took about 30-40 minutes, and is totally non-invasive and painless. My insurance pays all except a $35 co-pay. Now, go get yours done, and pray that my results are good! :) Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED]
