>>> Karen, the last time you were with Brenna was at the Liz Graves clinic.
Liz subsequently emailed me to say that Brenna is one of the top 10
Icelandic mares she has seen in this country, and that she was highly
impressed with her attitude and the work I've done with her. You remember
that.
Yes. And I can’t count the number of people who have asked me about buying
Eitill either. He’s a great horse, Mr. Personality, very willing, very
smart, great gaits…in MANY situations, he’s virtually perfect. That doesn’t
mean he doesn’t have issues/gaps from his clicker training. In many
situations, you’ll only see the significant part of him that is GREAT.

I didn’t take it personally when you brought up Eitill so I assumed it would
be ok for me to be honest about what I saw in Brenna too. I’m certainly not
pointing fingers at Eitill. I’m absolutely not pointing fingers at his
clicker trainer. I’m not really taking all the blame either, but I’ll
certainly assume my share of blame – I don’t know clicker training as well
as some, but I didn’t see any problem in buying a clicker trained horse.
Honestly, I don’t think this is a “blame” issue. It’s just what it is.
Eitill’s c/t rules did not magically transfer to me when I bought him, and I
’m a reasonably experienced horse owner. I’ve enjoyed Eitill. I love him.
He’s a good horse, a great horse. But, I’m not afraid to be specific about
my horses for fear of looking bad – I WILL hesitate to get specific
sometimes when I think someone will get their feelings hurt – otherwise I
would have talked directly about Eitill before now. I assumed you’d be ok
if I mentioned the incident with Brenna. I’m sorry if you took offense.
