Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone over the last few months who have given me suggestions
with my colic horse Gunnar. He had over 30 colics in 6 months with a diagnosis
of ulcers and andyhrosis.

It's scary to write this thinking you can jinx it, but Gunnar has been colic
free for over a month now. What do I think changed? A couple things. Gunnar
came from more of a pasture setting with grass growing...not my 2 acre dirt
lot. So what we have done is feed him 4x a day. The last feeding at 9:00 pm.
He now has less time without any food available to him...stopping any fasting
that was accruing. I also have a hay he doesn't care for very much out all the
time. The other thing was a complete clipping. We went from 20 -40 degrees a
day to 70. He was clipped and running around spunky. The other thing was a
yearling. Maverick (the baby) got Gunnar off his lazy butt and they run around
all day long. So know Gunnar is ready to ride and in shape.

I don't share much with the group but I do enjoy the emails. Since I have
started a 4-H group with the horses I am always happy to see messages regarding
any training or ideas working with kids.

  Thanks for all the support.
Rene', Gunnar and Maverick and of course a qtr horse - Dixie who wants to be
an icelandic too
