Response from Karen Bradford: "Saga" is not a place but an earlier name for Elisabeth Haug's Icelandics. As Gletta "said" in her book, "Living Your Dream," Elisabeth's Viking Saga Ranch is where she first lived in Denmark after leaving Iceland . When I met Elisabeth in 2001 to buy SC Mjoelnir (which I took to mean "Saga California "), her herd was in Buellton, the next off-ramp northwest of Solvang. Buellton, by the way, is not near Bakersfield in California 's Central Valley; Buellton is on the coast --- with beautiful oak-studded rolling hills, about one-third of the way from Los Angeles to San Francisco --- and also the home of the famous Andersen split pea soup place!
