Renee:

Are his testicles descended? Is he a stallion prospect?

I don't think there is that much to worry about until he is about 18 months
old.  BUT he will remain a "baby" a little longer if he is not with the
mares. Having said that, I don't think it's a good idea for him to be
separate. He should have least a gelding as company.

On the other hand, being with the mares is good for socialization, they will
discipline him if he needs it.
