This is Jaspar's favorite bit. I bought one for Stonewall because it
said it helps a horse to "collect". Stonewall acted like he had no
bit at all with it. It cost so much I couldn't bear to not use it so
I tried it on jaspar. The bridle needed adjusting because it hung so
low and loose it almost fell out of his mouth. As I stepped around
and reached to adjust the bridle, Jas picked up the bit and placed it
where he wanted it. I was amazed. I had read in the Dorrance book
that a horse would do this if you left the bit loose. Since then Jas
wears his myler bit where it almost falls out of his mouth and when
its time to go he picks it up and seats it, and when we stop to rest
he drops it. Only thing I dislike about it is that the dang rawhide
over the nose just appears so severe. I cringe when people remark on
it. People think it is a gagamore. But I could honestly ride Jaspar
with a halter, or even nothing, if it werent for him deciding to stop
and eat blueberries whenever he wants.
