I think all of us agree that the price of Icelandics is worth it for what you get but since the question was "why the numbers of Icelandics is lower than other breeds introduced about the same time" - I think that we have to realize that the perception of the price of Icelandics is a hindrance to building big numbers. Of course, it's not the only reason, but a big one. One breed of horse is never going to suit everyone - we all have different preferences and needs. As you said, you wouldn't pay $4500 for a 1/4 horse but someone else might think that's a deal. For me, the Icelandics fit my needs and preferences perfectly and I am willing to pay the price for perfection :-)) -- Laree
