What does banamine DO exactly... My vet gave me three doses of gel to
give to Nasi twice one day then once the next day. I dont know what
for exactly, he had an eye injury and was sedated at the vet while he
fixed it, then gave me some eye ointment to put in three times a day.
But every time I gave Nasi his banamine he turned into a beliggerent
drunk, tearing out fences, just walking right thru them, bucking and
running around like a nut. Any time I have given my other horses
banamine for colic they were sedate. Isnt it supposed to be a sort of
sedative? I dont know if the vet had me give it for slight sedation
or inflammation, but if it was to calm him and make him be less active
and not run around like a nut and get dust in his eye then it had an
opposite effect!

With Nasi, and now Tivar, I am laughing at all these glowing
descriptions of the icelandic horse that makes them sound lobotomized.
nasi is like a little tasmanian devil and tivar is his dark minion
from the underworld. nasi sedated on banamine, so drunk he is
staggering a little, walks on a lead with me after tearing out half a
fence, and every step he reaches and gives my back a shove. Like
"hey, I am talking to YOU, here's how I feel about YOU taking me to
the VET at NIGHT" shove shove shove. Then Tivar, repeatedly takes off
Nasi's flymask like "hey, I gotta see his eyes so I will know when he
is about to attack..."
