Isn't that a Pelham bit? It looks like the "snaffle" reins run through the purchase ring of the bit...wouldn't that cause poll pressure too? When combined with the pressure on the nose, it seems like that would be the double-whammy, almost like the bitless bridle... plus some curb effect from the bit too? I don't really get why use this combination? I occasionally ride with a short-shanked mullen mouth Pelham, but almost always with just one rein on the snaffle reins. I think two reins are just too complicated for me. I wonder if the Pelham is jointed or a mullen mouth...? Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED]
