I received a flyer saying there are starting up "calf sorting and team
penning" at an arena near me, you go and pay 20 bucks and get to play
at it. They say its very good for a horse, he has to stand tied at
the trailer and rail while the others work the cattle, and he gets
used to all the lights and noise and excitement. He also has to get
used to cows. they say you need to plan on taking your horse several
times to get used to things before you actually make an attempt at it.
I am planning to try it! I will film it if I ever get the nerve to
try. The only horse I have that has ever been around a cow is jaspar
and he freaked out when he saw it :) so wish me luck! I am going to
the next one and taking Tivar and Stonewall and just tie them at the
trailer for our first time and see how it goes. I will get to watch
and talk to people and see what I should do etc. Won't it be fun when
a chubby 57 year old woman with a pony and a walking horse shows up
with all the cutting horse people... I can't wait.
