Believe me, I would have no problem killing a snake....but the chicks were already gone so didn't (and didn't want it dropping on my head!!). Although I was up a 20 ft ladder and had a 4 ft stick, the snake was still 8 or so ft above me. And a poisionous snake that doesn't skedaddle has signed his death sentence. Back in CA, a woman was riding her Icelandic in early spring. A baby rattler struck her horse several times in the abdomen and he was dead within 20 minutes. She never saw the snake and baby rattlers let go of all their venom when they strike. If we ever meet, I would like to learn your whip/base of head techinique! Trish
