Some snakes are very good climbers, the scales on their bellies are attached to muscles that allow them to move them somewhat independently. If there are any bumps, cracks, nuts or bolts sticking out of an obect the snake can probably climb it. They have to be able to leverage themselves with their head or tail in a secure position though but only need an inch or two of tail left on the ground.. Cherie
