We help a lot of our clients in our farrier buisness transition.

First, you need a farrier who will come out in a 6-8 cycle on time.

Or you need to do some rasping of the toes at 4 weeks yourself so
cracks do nolt develop and your horses tendons and ligiments won't
get strecthed to a point of discomfort.

Supplements are great...biotin is good.....something on his soles to
strenthen them (keratex? Not on the frog!)

When you transition it is ggod to have the farrier come out in a 4-6
cycle the first couple of times...Also, if he can go with out fronts
in your home pasture, then you could use boots to ride in. We use
old macs and love them, they stay on.

Also we use a poly shoe called ground controll....it is an awesome
shoe, good to use for transitions, and a good shoe to use if you
really need shoes where you are. It allows for expansion of the
horn, and has a frog support so that the frog gets contact while
walking....

Thats the shoe we put on our horses here, as we tried hard to go
barefoot but the hard A'a lava would not allow it.

The shoe is in texas, the owners name is Kristy and she is very nice
and easy to order from. We use them on horse with navicular, joint
issues, older horses....it gives them new life.
