I would think that she probably saddled the horse so that she could put 
herself in the right position, to be able to teach Centered Riding.

And look at that horse slipping on the ice.

Maybe could have broke his leg!  So, why not take preventative measures and not 
go on the ice (like wearing the *protective* boots.... just in case something 
untoward happens).
