A running walk can be slightly diagonal or slightly lateral.  Any more than 
slightly would make it a different gait.

With tolt (the one / two foot support gait), I don't think we see it going 
diagonal, but lateral yes.  It could be slightly to the lateral, before 
becoming another gait.

So, when the horse is doing a slow gait (which is not the one / two foot 
support tolt), it could be a fox trot, a running walk, or a stepping pace. 
But again, the support has changed, so it's not the *same* gait as being a 
"trotty tolt" or a "pacey tolt".
