Nice.  However, I don't think I'd ever teach a horse to rear on command.
That's an action that can be dangerous in a crowd, or with a rider up, so I
just wouldn't take a chance.  Sure, it's a cute trick, but if the horse ever
ends up with another owner who doesn't understand the full context of the
cues, the horse could accidentally be considered "dangerous" by simply
trying to do something she's been taught to do.  I don't see any redeeming
value in teaching it that is worth the risk.

I think we should always keep that in mind - what if the unthinkable happens
and our horses end up owned by someone else, someone with more mainstream
views of what's acceptable horse behavior?  I'd love to think that Cary and
I will live a vigorous and active life until we are 98, able to fully care
for our final, aging horses...and then that all of us (horses, dogs, parrots
and humans) will be instantly wiped out by a meteorite all at once.  I doubt
we will be so lucky though.  Most owners are unable to keep their horses
their full lives.
