I would so agree.  At the WC in Switzerland my sister, Susan, borrowed a
horse to ride that had been taught to rear.  Unfortunately she didn't know
it, and he reared on numerous occasions before she found out and the cue to
rear was something like a light tap on the shoulder.  So the poor horse
thought he was doing the right thing.

It's a bit like with young horses or puppies, don't teach them to do
anything as a youngster that you wouldn't want in an adult.  Might be cute
when they are young....
