he may have rubbed and got an eyelash in there backwards.  Also, some
fly masks do not allow room for the eye and cause rubbing of the
eyelashes and irritation.  I have found the more expensive cashel fly
mask to be way better than others like absorbine, which even tho has a
fleece part across the nose still rubs worse than the cashel, which
doesn't.
