There are a few weeks during the year that I feel I must use fly
spray... But they normally aren't much of an issue
around here. Except this year during the month of May it was terrible
around here, and I'm not sure why. I have a bug zapper going all the
time, and I have disposable fly bags that I change regularily. So
when the numbers seem to be higher I take action against them, besides
just using fly spray.

However, all the horses around here are good for fly spray except for
Kria and Gusti. They will allow me to spray it on a sponge and then
sponge it on them, and sometimes I can sneak a few squirts here and
there on Kria...but Gusti only allows the sponge. He's been that way
since he was a baby and I'm not sure why. His mom was great with
spray too.

Gusti doesn't like water much, so maybe it has something to do with
that. But try as I might...clicker training and all....that's one
spot where Gusti draws the line. No spraying...

Dagur, Solon, Peppy and Elska...all stand quietly while I spray them
down...but not the other two. So I'm not sure whether it was a hole
in Kria's training or if it's something in that line of horses... but
I know it wasn't a hole in Gusti's training because I really tried
with him.

But just reading Robyn's comment now about how a horse might grow up,
I agree, there are no stinking flies in Vernon...none... So Kria
would have had no reason to learn about fly spray.
