>>>> I suppose that is true when you consider all the QH's in N.A. I have
ridden English all my life and the same goes for most of the people I know,
so there you go. Helps me understand where you are coming from but I don't
consider it exotic to ride English.

On the east coast, and in my part of the south, English saddles are pretty
common and have been for a long time. My grandfather mostly rode gaited
horses when he could find ones that were also suitable farm horses - I wish
I had a clear picture of his old saddle. It appeared to be something
between a Lane Fox type saddle (traditional gaited horse flat saddle) and a
hunter type saddle, but not exactly like either. I have no idea how old
that saddle was, or where it eventually went. I'd guess that it was vintage
sometime in the early 1900's, but maybe not. Anyway, hornless-non-western
saddles have been in these parts for a LONG time. I'm pretty sure the few
pictures I've seen also showed he didn't use a noseband. I'll ask my mom
and my cousins who is actually in possession of one of those few pictures.
I'd really like to have a copy of my own.

"The greatest enemy of the truth very often is not the lie- deliberate,
contrived and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive and
unrealistic."

"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
