>>> Really, there is more of a problem with them eating cats, chickens,
small animals, that's always been myexperience.

After I settled down from the surprise, I think my cats are my big worry.

>>> I lived in the high desert and they would yip every night, it was kind
of haunting. I hear them once in a while around here.

Next question: I haven't heard any of the yodeling/howling thing they do.
BUT, a couple of nights this week when I took Frank out to potty, I heard
something that sounded vaguely like the foxes, but from a direction I've
never seen or heard the foxes at night. It didn't sound exactly like the
foxes though. Do coyotes also have a "yip" sort of like a fox, or do they
only howl like in the movies? This one today finally headed of in the
direction I heard that yipping this week.

That's why I think this was so surprising. Since I first heard that they
were in the area, I've been waiting to hear the infamous howling at night.
I surely thought I'd hear that before I saw one just 10 feet from my front
porch, but I haven't.
