You are all both very kind and very astute. The photographer must have tipped his camera. This was actually a very well-balanced horse, but in the picture, he looks like he's standing downhill. He also cut his feet off. Right again, he was an off-track Quarter Horse. His grandfather was a popular Thoroughbred named Jet Deck that sired a lot of successful running quarter horses.
This was Moony's first show, I think in the 80's, and the intent had been to ride a low level dressage test. The dressage entries closed two weeks ahead of the other entries and I missed the deadline, so we decided that we would use those two weeks to make my dressage horse into a hunter. He was doing really well until the day of the show. It was pretty much of a runaway. He was very forward and very collected and moving VERY big. All I wanted was to get it over with. Instead he won that class and another a little while later. Turns out, the dressage judge was also judging the hunter/jumper classes. He went on down to Pebble Beach, CA, where he was a very successful Three Day Event horse. Nancy
