Hello,
I have been ponying my 2 yr old Icelandic gelding with my 12 yr gelding
around the 2 acre property. I have corrected any problems with racing ahead or
playing with me or my saddle and have worked with behavior at a faster pace.
My problem is that now I have left the property and gone out around my house
and trails. Baby Maverick is just dragging behind me. I have given him
encouragement with treats in my lap to keep him up with us and it isn't
working. He just walks so slowly. I took him out the next day on just a walk
with me and still the same thing. I introduced a crop and got what I needed to
keep up. I just don't think I can ride, pony and handle a crop.
I know most of you have a lot of experience in this. What should be my next
step?
