I think it depends on the horse.  I was never able to make a dropped
noseband fit Hreggur properly.  It always moved down onto the
cartilage in spite of how I had placed it originally, it would always
slip during a ride.  I finally tossed it.

That was my only experience with dropped nosebands.  We haven't
started any of the rest of ours with them.
