>>> I like a D ring with a no pinch at the sides, with eith sweet iron or copper. But I have to say is that I have looked for a 4 1/2" bit for some of my horses with smaller mouths and yet to find one that I like. Where would I look for such a bit that is not a 5" or evn 5 1/2" wide?
Check any catalog (online or print) that sells hunter type English tack, like Dover Saddlery or Stateline. Susan at Saddle Up Tack (www.saddleuptack.com) also has a good many 4.25"-4.75" bits. I've only had one sweet iron bit, and I couldn't tell that my horses liked it any better than stainless steel. I've bought Tom Thumb Pelham and several French links (traditional link and oval link, some with copper links) from Susan. There are also online tack stores that specialize in pony tack - search for PonyOnly and Just For Ponies. Karen Karen Thomas Wingate, NC No virus found in this outgoing message.
