I bought the Dancing with Horses book about the time it came out. I read
parts of it, but somehow the words felt a little empty to me....I then went
looking for some background on him. I couldn't find much to make me think
he'd had horses very long then. I could be wrong.... Anyway, all I could
find about his background (if I remember correctly) was that he'd been an
actor and dancer. Now, possibly the experience as a dancer MIGHT make him
more body-aware than a normal person...but I'd already noticed that most of
the pictures of himself in the book showcased his butt in jeans as the
centerpoint of the photos, including the one on the cover. (Nice looking
butt, but I'm old, and that's pretty irrelevant to my progress as a
horseman.) There were other phrases early in the book...I can't remember
now, but something about how "elemental" it was to work with a young
stallion. (I think that was the word he used...) I wasn't overwhelmed with
the macho stallion dribble - I've known plenty of local yokel macho types
who HAD a stallion, and sometimes they get their elemental teeth knocked
out. I never finished the whole book.

My question still is...is Klaus Hempfling really a horseman, or is this just
his big break at acting...? I'm certainly not ready to believe anything he
says about Icelandic's - not just yet.
