All of our really good farriers out here (rec. by one of the best Equine Clinics on the West Coast) have told me over the years that the lateral expansion of Icelandics is very different than most breeds, so unless you are used to this, you may fit the shoe a bit tighter the first few shoeing cycles than desireable as well as wall thickness is different (which does vary between individuals). Phil Pretty , who used to be a farrier, alerted me to this fact when we bought our boys 13 years ago. You may want to contact Phil for additional input as I am not an expert in these matters.
