The flares Laree is talking about aren't wide flares. They are barely noticeable at the end of a trim cycle. Mura used to live on very rocky, dry ground and only needed tiny touch-ups every 6-8 weeks. My other mare, Lilja could go for 4-5 months because her feet were well balanced and self-trimming. Now that they are both in North Carolina and the ground is softer, they need trimming ever 4-6 weeks.
If you want to see flares, take a look at my boss's Belgians, if they're not trimmed every 4-5 weeks! Although they're doing much better now that they've been barefoot about a year 1/2. Cherie
