>>> Doing some organizing I came across the magazine I saved where I first read about the Icelandic....so, it took me about 10 years after reading that story to get my first Icelandic!
You know, Virginia, I think I remember that article too. I have a bunch of old horse magazines in my attic, so I should look for that issue. At that time, I had the two TWH that were still pretty young, and the idea of having a gaited horse where trot was acceptable struck a cord. Holly, of course, did a running walk AND a trot, but at that time, so many people weren't openly talking about trotting their gait horses - I was sort of a "closet trotter." Anyway, the next time I remembered thinking about Icelandic's was when I was lying in the hospital with the broken back and Cary asked what we could do to make riding easy for me as I recovered, and I blurted out, "Well, I've heard about this breed called Icelandic's..."...as soon as I could get to a computer, several days later, I started sending e-mails. One of the first people I e-mailed was Anneliese. Six months later, I was still a mess physically, but Sina came home. Karen Karen Thomas Wingate, NC No virus found in this outgoing message.
