Virginia,

There are a number of lower cost barn kits available. when we bought
our place 15 years ago it had a pretty new barn on it that came from a
kit. We love it. It is 48 feet long with 4 stalls on one side, a wide
breezeway, and a good sized tack feed room on one end of the other and
a hay storage room on the other. On that same side between is a wash
area that we use to store the tractor and its attachments and various
other things. We even stored a friends car one winter when he went to
Mexico. The siding slides in and out so you can have it very airy or
all enclosed. It has a long sloping roof on one side so there is
always shade

You can spend some of those cold winter days browsing the internet.
Just google horse barn kits. The Barnmaster barns are pretty popular
around here.
