Susan, if you're worried about him being cold, but want to give him a 'vent' just clip a strip on the underside of his neck. If you just clip there you shouldn't need to blanket him at all. Then just throw a cooler on him for an hour or two after your ride. Does he have a place to get out of the wind?
We have two equines here that can get a chill if they get too wet and haven't had a chance to dry off ....like right now, when it's half raining and half snowing. I'll have to go check the little one and the old one shortly. If they are shivering at all they go in the barn for the night. Wanda
