I should have clarified: there is no spinal channel on this pad, not that you'd expect one on a bareback pad. And the seat area isn't terribly thick - nothing like what's between your seat bones and the horse's back with a Sensation, for instance. If I use it for more than maybe 1/2 hour or so, I'll be sure to use a Skito or similar pad with it for extra protection. I have several channel pads, so that's nothing extra for me, but if you don't have a suitable channel pad, that could be an extra expense to consider for longer rides.
