The cue for my dogs is the same as yours:"Go Poopy"...for my birds it's "Bombs Away" or "Fire in the hole"...I think you can indeed train older birds...I can't remember how old Hoover is, but Charlie learned at 35 years old...she didn't have any potty training at all before that.
