This new mare has only shown nervousness around people since she's been here,
and that is getting much better. She's from another part of the country, so I
know she's not used to autumn leaves drifting all around her, having a fallen
limb get stuck in her tail when we go for a walk - but none of those things
seem to faze her in the slightest. She stepped up on the tree-stump-platform
the first try, with no hesitation. Even the crunchy sound of walking on the
freshly fallen leaves don't seem to bother her, nor does having a gray tabby
cat stand up from a pile of leaves, seeming to appear from nowhere, upset her.
Cary has driven the tractor right beside where she was standing in her little
pasture, and she looked up, but didn't look at all afraid - just curious.

She's only been here a little over a week though, so I don't know what else
about her we might not have seen yet.
