The rule of thumb in NC is 1-3 acres per horse...but our farm here in NC 
seemed to grow enough grass to support 1 horse per half-acre.  Seriously, it 
took several years of neglect for us to get our farm "poor" enough to be 
able to leave the horses out all day, all year.  My guess is that farm would 
be similar, but I'm not sure.  With something like 15-25 (only guessing) 
acres of established pasture, I suspect your three horses wouldn't starve! 
I'm sure you could get a local farmer to cut part of the pasture for hay, so 
you'd probably be set year-round.
