Oh Raven, that would be a problem for me. Here in Southern Oregon, redneck land if there ever was one, I have NEVER heard the "N word" spoken aloud. As the adoptive mother of a racially diverse family, I would struggle with anything that addressed the race of my kids. Our first adopted sons were from Viet Nam. Brenda was born in Mexico. Ronnie is African American. Foster Jenny is a gorgeous blend of Puerto Rican, El Salvadoran and Mexican. Stephanie, Bruce, the three birth children and I are all rather white. I was truly surprised when Child Protective Services had the nerve to ask me to take a White child - shows we all have our "issues" doesn't it?
