I honestly don't know about KY, Mary. I know that there are a notable number of interracial couples all over the south who live in peace - it's certainly not shocking in NC to see a mixed race couple. On the other hand, I know there are racists scattered all across the country - I'm just not so convinced that racism is more common in the south than it is anywhere else. (Exactly where is shock-jock Howard Stern from? Manhattan, maybe?) The truth is that it only takes one nut-case to hurt someone, no matter where you live. Karen Thomas, NC
