Some of these old guys were so wise.  My Afi had work horses and they
were his pride and joy.  Mom recalls that they were always well
trained (gently) and always in beautiful condition.  Mom also recalls
that Afi was known to purchase old broken down horses and then retire
them to the pasture.  I always liked that about him.

He didn't have any more money than anyone else, but he always had a
few retirees hanging around..
